Important information!

I received an e-mail from Bill Horning with information about an error in our Youth Quiz/Barefoot Ministries materials. Our scripture portions and spiral bound concordances are incorrect at Chapter 2 verse 11. The correct verse should read "This, the first of His miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed His glory, and His disciples put their faith in Him." Our scripture reads "This, the first of His miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed His glory, and His disciples put their faith in Him." This is a memory verse.
Bill Horning has decided that since this error is in our NPH scripture portions that the NPH scripture portion WILL BE THE CORRECT USE FOR THIS YEARS QUIZ. However that will mean that the blue book and yellow books will be incorrect. He has changed all set maker questions for those of you who may use set maker to read the way our scripture portion reads. And I am certain that Glen will write our district questions based on the NPH scripture portion.
See you August 14 at 8:30 a.m. : ) If you have any quiz machine equipment that you can bring along that would be great. If you have any officials that you can encourage to join us that would be marvelous. I am feeling a little nervous as I have not heard from any officials officially that they will be at our quiz! : (

New District Director
Posted 19 Jul, 2010 12:04 PM by Bill
Hi all:
On July 9 David Morris our district NYI president asked me to take on the responsibility of district quiz director. As most of you know, I am sure, Jenn resigned her position in June. Thank you Jenn for your years as our director.
With that said, I would like to get us up to date on the new quiz season! We will be starting our quizzes on August the 14th at Grace Pointe COTN in Avon. I would like to start our day with a meeting at 8:30 a.m. and quizzing to begin at 9 a.m.
For those of you who don't know me, let me take a minute to tell you a little bit about me. I am a mom of 6 wonderful children, 4 of whom have quizzed teen quizzing. My oldest will be a freshman at ONU in the fall, but the next 3 will still be quizzing this season. I have helped my husband Jim to coach our local church team at Westside for about 11 years now. Wow that seems long! And I have been hosting the Indianapolis Westside quiz tournament for almost that many as well. And now I will be taking on a new job as district director. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of quizzing with all of you.
I have set up a new district quizzing e-mail account for communication with all of you. That address is indyquiz@gmail.com I would like for you to respond to me at this e-mail with your intentions for the 2010-11 quiz season. Do you plan to coach a team, officiate, participate as a quizzer, just come and cheer us on, work with stats? Let me know how you will be involved. I will then respond to you with some more information about our quiz season. I also plan to use our website www.indyquiz.org to share information with you. I will also rely on you to register by the Wednesday before the quiz each month so that I know how to prepare for that quiz.
Looking forward to a great season!

District Finals
Posted 17 Mar, 2010 09:29 AM by Jennifer
Good Morning Indy!
I am writing to help prepare us for Saturday’s district finals and top 24 quiz off at Westside. If you have not yet registered your team on www.indyquiz.org I would ask that you please do that by the end of today. I also am asking anyone that has working equipment and qualified officials to please email me with a list of who and what you can provide for the day. Saturday morning will be team finals. We will be using Glen’s style schedule for our tournament. Saturday afternoon will be the top 24 quiz off. This will take place in 3 rooms with 8 quizzers participating in each room. I will cover additional information on this Saturday morning in our 8:30 meeting. I will be providing pizza following morning finals for quizzers, coaches and officials. This is being done to help us stay on schedule. I am asking that anyone who is/may be participating as a quizzer or official in the top 24 that afternoon to stay at the church for this pizza lunch. Any quizzer not present at the time we are ready to begin the top 24 tournament will forfeit their position as we must be finished, cleaned up and out of Westside by 4:30. This allows no room for delayed schedules.
It is very important that all coaches be present for an 8:30 meeting in Room B which is room 614 at Westside. All quizzers and spectators will gather in Room A, room 618. In the coaches meeting I will answer any questions about Saturday’s schedule, discuss an officials training day for this summer, present next year’s quiz schedule, RCL and Q2010.
For the ten quizzers who make the two district teams there will be a brief informational meeting following the top 24 quiz off. The district will pay $40 of RCL fees for anyone who makes district team A. Anyone on these teams who has not already submitted RCL fees will need to take care of that Saturday before they leave. We must get all registrations and money to David Morris ASAP.
If you have any further questions prior to Saturday feel free to call or email me!
Looking forward to a great day Saturday!
Jenn
